This is one of my favourite quotes. I truly believe that we should be there to help each other on our way and if we do so then others will be there for us when we need it.
Having lived several years on the island of Mallorca my family and I started to come up with several different business ideas that we thought could be beneficial to people on the island. Starting a small business in any country is very difficult and more so when it is not your country and the language is a barrier. However, we do have the advantage that there are many English speaking people on this island, the problem was how to reach them!
When looking into advertising avenues, they are not terribly 'small business' minded. On the whole, online, magazine and newspaper advertising costs could run into hundreds each month, more than most small businesses can afford. Word of mouth is fine but takes much too long. So what could we do. Bite the bullet and advertise with a couple of online 'Advertisers' which I might add did not seem to be doing much advertising themselves, along with newspapers. We needed to think of how to reach as many as possible, many people are only on their computers now and then, where do they look when they need an electrician, roofer, computer geek etc. Ok, apart from the internet and the newspapers we also have the yellow pages and the local telephone books, not a bad choice if you like using the phone and you know exactly what you are looking for. For me, and I suppose, I am no different to many others, I would rather be able to see what they can do before I phone, in fact, I would rather email someone, then you feel under no obligation.
Ok, to cut, what could be, a very long story short, my son had just completed his website training course, I had just completed a self built website, learning from scratch, so we decided to take the bull by the horns and build a website which offered all small businesses the opportunity to advertise at an affordable cost. We also decided, that in order to create more business for our website and therefore for all of our clients, we would offer Free Personal Ads for all. Anyone wanting to advertise items to sell etc. could have up to 5 advertisements at a time. By offering this we offer our clients more chance of being seen. We also offer all Charities free advertising.
It is our mission to be 'the' place for business listings in Mallorca.
