these words of the celebrated novelist Graham Green are profoundly true The Allen Graham Charity 4 Kidz is a non-profit charity registered in the Spanish Balearic Islands. The charity supports children in need on the island of Mallorca. In 2007 more than 500 children were taken into care on Mallorca. It is a shockingly high number considering the small population of the island. The children came from all kinds of backgrounds, communities and countries of origin. Apart from being mistreated and abused, many had been abandoned on the island. The Allen Graham Charity 4 Kidz is dedicated to giving a future to these children, many of whom have been traumatised and scarred by their experiences. Our aim is to provide for their needs over and above that which is provided for by the public administration. We make sure they have computers, bicycles, televisions and the same kind of toys that any child in an ordinary home environment would enjoy. We also make sure that they have the study materials and learning skills needed for that important step of leaving residential care and integrating back into the community. In this area of work we have considerable experience. Our ‘Life Projects’ are already helping young adults who have been in long term care and who at eighteen lose the support of the public administration.
