If you follow the wonderful, white, sandy beach from the front of Palma City and keep on walking you will eventually find the resort of El Arenal or S'Arenal.  The perfect place to be if you want to laze on the beach all day and then enjoy the exciting nightlife later on.

El Arenal has become the destination for young Germans and has become their version of Magaluf.  It has to be said, however, it is most definitely more stylish. Over the past few years it has developed a very cosmopolitan feel to it as more and more nationalities such as Dutch, Spanish and British are enjoying their holidays at this resort.

The draw to this excellent resort is a wonderful white sandy beach dotted with swaying palm trees and the fact that it really is so close to the capital Palma de Mallorca.  Of course there is also the fact that it has small kiosks dotted along the beach so you are never too far away from refreshments, including beer and the toilets!  A stroll along the waterfront promenade at sunset past various shops, bars and restaurants offers a great way to unwind, and there is a walkway which links El Arenal to neighbouring C'an Pastilla

If you want to enjoy the nightlife but don't really want to go into the capital, then Arenal itself has plenty to offer.  The resort is just packed with bars waiting to help you have a good time and offering a variety of entertainment.  There are also some excellent restaurants with a good choice.

Although thought of as a resort for young people it is also a family resort with the wonderful beach and facilities available all day long. There are frequent buses from El Arenal to the capital Palma de Mallorca or for those of you feeling a little more active there is the possibility of hiring bicycles and seeing the sights.  There are some excellent hikes to enjoy if you are in to walking and there are lots of watersports such as sailing, diving etc.  El Arenal also has an enormous waterpark  - look here for more information on Aquacity Arenal!

It is situated on the east coast of the Bay of Palma, El Arenal (also known as S'Arenal) is a lively and highly developed resort, popular with German travellers (many of whom have stayed) and is ideal not only for singles, but families too. The long, palm-lined beach is exquisite; perfect for stretching out on a sun-lounger and enjoying the calm waters. A stroll along the waterfront promenade at sunset past various shops, bars and restaurants offers a great way to unwind, and a walkway links El Arenal to neighbouring C'an Pastilla. Those seeking out a more authentic Spanish experience beyond the selection of German and British bars would do well by wandering the back streets away from the strip. A feature of the area are the Balnearios; 16 small beach huts that run from El Arenal to C'an Pastilla and typically have a kiosk, showers and toilets, and one of which has been turned into a German-style bar. Hiring a car is an excellent way to explore the rest of the island and take in the sights, but many choose simply to enjoy their hotels and the entertainment they provide. The neighbouring towns of Calvia, San Telmo and the beautiful port of Pollenca are, however, worth visiting and there are plenty of impressive historical sites to enjoy. A frequent bus service also links El Arenal to the busy capital of Palma de Mallorca. For the more active, hiring a bicycle is a wonderful way to see the sights and there are also some excellent hikes to enjoy. There are plenty of watersports, sailing and diving on offer, as well as a mini-golf course and an enormous waterpark: a perfect day out for the kids.
