Port d'Andratx is the natural port of the town of Andratx, on the west tip of Mallorca. Starting life as a small fishing village it has become one of the most popular tourist spots in the southwest of the island. Due to its position on the island it has been used by navigators since travelling the Mediterranean by sea began.  Although there is still a very strong element of fishermen in the harbour who provide the fresh fish offered by the restaurants in the local vicinity, the harbour now moors luxurious yachts and sailing boats.

The charm of Port d'Andratx is due very much to the landscape of the Tramuntana mountains and the many beautiful coves in the area.  Many tourists are attracted to this beautiful spot and spend their holidays in the various hotels, villas or vacation rentals that are availalbe.  There is a large majority of foreign residents living in Port Andratx mainly from other european countries.



As charming as it is, the fact that it has a tiny beach could be a drawback, especially for families with children visiting the resort.  However, there are a few wonderful beaches within the district of Andraxt, one being the lovely beach at Sant Elm or there is another excellent beach at Camp de Mar.  For the majority of visitors to Puerto Andratx is is not a problem and they use this resort as a base from which they can explore some of the more remote areas around the west coast of the island.
