Canyoning/Caverning
Watersports Mallorca
Canyoning or as some say, Caverning, is a fairly new sport which involves walking, scrambling, climbing, jumping, abseiling and/or swimming through canyons.

Mallorca and its Tramuntana mountain range have many canyons, carved out over millions of years by water, because of its limestone rocks.  There are many wonderful, beautifully sculpted walls and of course waterfalls within the narrow gorges which are the perfect setting for this all-action activity.

Canyoning/Caverning is actually practised throughout the year in Mallorca but really the best time for it is from October to April when the island experiences its heavy rainfalls.

This sort of sport is only for the experienced or professionally guided groups, it can be very dangerous if you are unaware of the terrain and what to expect.  There are professionally qualified and experienced guides in mallorca who will look after you on such trips.  Taking one of these trips has its advantages as all materials i.e. climbing harnesses, ropes, helments, wetsuits, bags and watertight containers are all provided so you do not have to try and squeeze these things into your luggage allowance.  All you will need to bring along will be a pair of good walking shoes, lightweight but warm clothing and of course your own sense of adventure.
